Huskies Drop 9-0 Contest To Tulsa in Regular Season Finale
The University of Connecticut softball team wrapped up regular season play with a 9-0 six-inning setback to Tulsa on Saturday at Burrill Family Field. The Huskies round out regular season play at 18-34, while the Tulsa finishes at 34-17. The two squads will meet again on Thursday, May 7 in the American Athletic Conference Championship held in Orlando, Fla. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. at the UCF Softball Complex.

The first five games of the conference tournament will be broadcasted live on The American Digital Network and Saturday's conference championship game will be seen on ESPN2.

The Huskies have won eight conference tournament titles and finished as the runner up on three occasions, all coming in the Big East. The program's last league tournament crown came in 2001. Overall, Connecticut sports a 26-15 all-time record in conference tournaments, including an 0-1 record in The American. UConn fell, 6-0, to top-seeded UCF a season ago despite a pair of hits from senior 3B Emily O'Donnell.

O'Donnell rounded out regular season play in the top-10 in the league in average (.353), slugging percentage (.593), on-base percentage (.413) and runs batted in (32). Her 0.30 doubles/gm mark is the best in the conference and 81st nationally. Sophomore Taylor Townsend, who has seen time at second base and in the outfield, leads the team and ranks fifth in the league with a .429 OBP. She is one of four players in the conference to have been hit by at least 10 pitches.

UConn and Tulsa met on the diamond for the first time over the weekend in a Golden Hurricane sweep. Tulsa sports a 34-17 overall record and finished the regular season with a 12-6 mark in conference action. Offensively, the team averages 5.9 runs scored per game and is led by 12 home runs and a league-best 58 RBI from senior infielder Julie Kernen.
