STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut softball team released its 2014 fall schedule on Friday, as announced by first-year head coach Jen McIntyre. The slate features eight total games, including three doubleheaders. Each game will be played at Burrill Family Field on the Storrs campus.
The Huskies open up on Sept. 21 when they take on Providence in a doubleheader set to begin at noon. A week later, UConn welcomes Southern Connecticut State University for a doubleheader at 11 a.m. On Oct. 4, Connecticut will host Boston College for an 11 a.m. battle, before playing Maine at 2 p.m. later that afternoon. The schedule rounds out with a doubleheader against Maine on Oct. 5. First pitch is set for noon.
McIntyre, who was named the head coach on July 7, comes to Storrs after a spending the 2014 season with Boston University as the associate head coach. The Terriers won the Patriot League tournament and qualified for the NCAA regionals and posted a win against Louisville.
The eight-game stretch will be the first time newcomers Chelsea Eckert, Alaina Montgomery, Ryne Nakama and Emma Stanley don their UConn uniforms as they get ready to join 13 letterwinners from the 2014 season.
