STORRS, Conn.- The 2013 Husky softball team is gearing up for another exciting year, looking to compete against the best of the BIG EAST. With 14 returning student-athletes and six incoming freshmen, the Husky team is determined to make an impact at the top of the BIG EAST Conference this season. Head coach Karen Mullins, assistant coach Tory Yamaguchi and the newly appointed assistant coach Alex Gray are all passionate about making the 2013 season their best yet.
Coach Mullins and her staff will look to open their fall slate with a doubleheader versus Providence on September 22nd. The last two weekends of fall ball will include games versus the University of Maine, Quinnipiac, Eastern Connecticut State and Albany to finish out the Husky's fall campaign.
They'll celebrate the successful careers of the recently graduated seniors, Ali Adelman, Amy DeLuca, Amy Vaughan and Jen Ward and the 2012 Husky Softball team at their banquet on September 29. While at UConn Ward broke the season stolen base record, Vaughan broke the season homerun mark and DeLuca was named to the 2012 All-BIG EAST Second Team.
