SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming and diving teams both posted wins over Seton Hall on Sunday as the men took a 167-126 victory while the women won by a 176-115 score. The men improve their record to 4-1 in dual meet action this year while the women are 4-0.
The freshmen on the women's team continue to have an impressive season. Freshman Mary DeMarrais (Bernardsville, N.J.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:31.87 while freshman Jordan Bowen (Lake Elmo, Minn.) won both the 200-yard freestyle in 1:54.24 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:04.11.
Sophomore Caitlin Gallagher (Lawrence, Kansas) won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.43 and the 200-yard IM in 2:09.70.
Freshman Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) won both the one-meter and three-meter diving.
On the men's side, senior John Hogan (Walkersville, Md.) won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:54.53 and the 100-yard butterfly in 51.25 seconds. He was also part of the both the winning 200-yard medley and 400-yrd freestyle relays teams that won events.
Freshman Jeremy Ramshaw (Mississauga, Ont.) won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:43.55 and freshman Kyungsoo Yoon (Toronto, Ont.) won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.1 seconds and the 100-yard freestyle in 46.9 seconds. Yoon was also part of the two winning relay teams.
Junior Tomacz Sobek (Siemianowice Slaskie, Poland) won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:00.01 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:09.93. Senior Steve Ferreria (Madison, Conn.) won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events.
UConn returns to action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for its final home meet of the year when it takes on Connecticut College.
