Women's Swimming And Diving Excels At Bison Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Junior Caitlin Gallagher (Lawrence, Kan.) won three event and three Husky men were double winners at the University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming and diving teams took part in the Bison Invitational on Saturday. There was no team scoring in the event which featured UConn, host Bucknell and American.

Gallagher won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:06.63), the 200-yard IM (209.93) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:26.14). Double winners for the UConn women were: sophomore Mary DeMarrais (Bernardsville, N.J.) in the 200-yard butterfly (2:10.31) and the 400-yard IM (4:34.93); and sophomore Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) with a win in the one-meter (312.45) and three-meter (311.55) diving events.

On the men's side, double winners were: sophomore Karim Zayed (Montreal, Que.) in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.56) and the 200-yard IM (1:53.04); senior Adam Genuario (Norwalk, Conn.) in the one-meter (281.40) and three-meter (336.83) diving; and freshman Keith Piper (Napverville, Ill.) won the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.84) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:43.47).

UConn returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Yale for Senior Day at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium at 1:00 p.m.
