PITTSBURGH - The University of Connecticut men's and women's swimming teams completed the second day of competition at the BIG EAST Championship on Thursday. The men's team is in fifth place with 166 points while Notre dame is the leader with 311 and Louisville is in second with 281. The women's team is in eighth place with 111 points while Louisville leads with 301.
Highlights of the second day for UConn were:
Freshman Mary DeMarrais (Bernardsville, N.J.) finishing in third in the consolation finals of the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:53.71.
Sophomore Caitlin Gallagher (Lawrence, Kansas) finishing sixth in the consolation finals of the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:04.23.
Freshman Jeremy Ramshaw (Mississauga, Ont.) finishing in fifth of the consolation finals of the 200-yard IM in a time of 1:51.98.
Freshman Kyungsoo Yoon (Toronto, Ont.) finishing in second in the consolation finals of the 50-yard freestyle in 20.71 seconds.
The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team finished in eighth place in a time of 1:35.96.
The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team finished in sixth place in a time of 1:23.12.
