INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Connecticut women's swimming and diving team is in sixth place of ten teams after the second day of the BIG EAST Championship. The event continues on Friday and concludes Saturday.
Thursday was highlighted by a school record by sophomore Chinyere Pigot (Miami, Fla.), who posted a 22.99 second mark in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle to finish in second place and earn All-BIG EAST honors. Earlier in the day in the preliminaries, she had broken the school record with a mark of 23.03.
Senior Danielle Cecco was second in the one-meter diving with a score of 307.25 to also earn All-BIG EAST honors.
The UConn women's 200-yard freestyle relay team finished in fifth place in a time of 1:33.54 and that team was made up of Pigot, freshman Rachel Burke (Wayne, Ill.), senior Jordan Bowen (Lake Elmo, Minn.) and senior Katie Dobler (Pittsford, N.Y.).
