Cecco Win's Three-Meter Diving, Qualifies For NCAA Championship

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - University of Connecticut junior Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) won the three-meter diving competition at the NCAA Zone Diving championship on Friday at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Cecco now qualifies for the NCAA national championship next weekend in Austin, Texas.

Cecco has 614.25 points in the competition to beat Jen Betz from Rutgers who had 565.25. There were 49 divers in prelims and 18 in finals.

UConn sophomore Nicole Boriello (Montgomery, N.Y.) was 27th with 215.6 and sophomore Kelly McCaulley (Cortland Manner, N.Y.) was 35th with 195.5.

The championships continue Saturday and Sunday.
