BLACKSBURG, Va. - Senior Jordan Bowen (Lake Elmo, Minn.) finished in third place in the 500-yard freestyle final in a time of 4:54.87 while senior Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) finished third in the three-meter diving with a score of 306.70 to highlight first day action for the University of Connecticut women's swimming and diving team at the H2Okie Fall Invitational.
Virginia Tech leads the event with 430 points followed by South Carolina (244), William & Mary (159), UConn (156) and Liberty (139). The event runs through Saturday.
In other Husky action, senior Mary deMarrais (Bernardsville, N.J.) was first in the B final for the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:55.79 while freshman Laura Hyland (Southport, England) was third in the B final in a time of 5:02.24.
Sophomore Chinyere Pigot (Miami, Fla.) was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.36 seconds.
