PITTSBURGH - The University of Connecticut women's swimming team is in third place of five teams after the first day of the Pittsburgh Invitational on Friday while the men's team is fourth of sixth. Ohio State leads the men's meet with 393 points while UConn has 177 and Pittsburgh leads the women's meet with 350 while UConn has 271.

The UConn men were paced by freshman Saywer Franz (Pine, Colo.) who finished second in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:30.14 while the UConn 400-yard medley relay team was third in 3:23.44.

On the women's side, junior Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) was second in the one-meter diving with 301.95 points while freshman Chinyere Pigot (Miami, Fla.) was third in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.48 seconds. The Pittsburgh Invitational continues on Saturday and concludes on Sunday.
