PHILADELPHIA – The UConn swimming and diving teams returns to action on the road at Villanova on Friday, January 19 at 2 p.m. The team has been on a 47-day winter break, beginning after a dual meet victory at Boston University on December 2.
The women’s team (5-0) enters Friday’s meet undefeated this season in dual meets while the men’s team sits at 4-1.
Despite battling injuries, the holidays and preparing for finals, the team displayed mental toughness and grit during the meet up in Boston.
While, Karl Bishop (1000 Free), Georgia Apostolu (100 Back), Will Kearsey (100 Back), Sona Pinela (200 Fly), Luke Martin (50 Free), Eliza Manning (100 Free), Kyle Dunlap (100 Free), Annika Grewal (200 Back), Julie Hu(200 Breast) and Kyle Kimura (100 Fly) all recorded first place finishes for the Huskies.
The UConn diving team has continued to develop during the first half of the season. A young group has put together solid performances and look to hit their stride in the final two months of competition. Erin Clifford (3M), Elizabeth Drab (1M), Kyle Kennedy (3M) and Torrington Wagner (1M) all ended the fall semester on a high note by capturing victories in the final event at Boston University.
The Huskies celebrate Senior Day at their final home dual-meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. against Dartmouth. The seniors will be honored prior to the meet beginning at 12:40 p.m. Please plan to arrive earlier than usual due to the women’s basketball game that afternoon at Gampel Pavilion.
