STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut swimming program will host its annual Husky Open on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium on the Storrs campus. Action for the Huskies’ regular season finale is set to begin at 10 a.m. Admission to the event is free.
This year’s meet includes five teams, as the Huskies, Boston College, Providence, Boston University and Northeastern will all swim. It will once again feature a time trial format that will give swimmers the opportunity to compete in a variety of the 17 total races.
Saturday will make the last day of competitive swimming for UConn before the American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships later this month. Connecticut finished its dual meet season at an even .500, combining for a 4-4 record between the men’s and women’s teams.
On Tuesday, sophomore Monica Marcello (Middletown, Conn.) earned Female Diver of the Week honors from the conference after winning both diving events at UConn’s final dual meet of the season against Dartmouth. On her way to the top spot, Marcello set a new pool record on the one-meter platform with 307.64 points.
Following this weekend, the Huskies will head down to Houston, Texas for the conference championship, set for Feb. 17-20. Tickets for the event can be purchased HERE, and all four days of competition will be covered live on the American Digital Network.
