DALLAS – Senior diver Dan Kinney won the Platform event and was named the Co-Outstanding Diver of the Meet on the final day of The American Championships on Saturday night.
Kinney scored a pool record 264.90 and will now carry a great American Championship meet in NCAA Zones on March 5-7 in New Brunswick, N.J.
I couldn’t be more proud of Dan for this terrific in his final conference championship,” said head diving coach John Bransfield. “Being recognized was a fitting gesture for a great kid that had worked very hard for four year, often in obscurity.”
The Huskies finished the 2017 American Championships placing sixth on the men’s side with a total of 379 points and landed in fourth place on the women’s end with 641 points.
Will Kearsey claimed another conference championship with his victory in the 200 Backstroke. Kearsey set a pool record and school record with a time of 1:43.89. Kearsey also posted a school record in the 100 Free with a time of 44.08.
The Huskies claimed two more school records from freshman David May and junior Mark Hunter. May recorded a second place finish in the 200 Fly with a 1:45.75 mark. Hunter claimed a record in the 200 Breaststroke (1:56.56) and took home a second place finish.
