    STORRS, CONNECTICUT (February 20, 2001) -- The University of Connecticut women's swimming and diving team is turning in outstanding performances, both in the pool and in the classroom.

    A total of 21 members of the 2000-2001 UConn women’s swimming and diving squad attained a grade point average of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 GPA scale) during the 2000 fall semester.

    During the year 2000 fall semester the Connecticut women’s swimming and diving team compiled a combined overall grade point average of 3.26, leading the way academically among all 24 of UConn’s intercollegiate athletic programs. Included in that 3.26 GPA for the women’s swimming and diving team were perfect 4.0 GPA efforts by four members of the squad---Kelly Bergkessel, Michelle Jackson, Elizabeth Klink, Erin Moran.

    The members of the UConn women’s swimming and diving team who compiled a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average during the year 2000 fall semester include: Alyson Berg (Stamford, CT), Kelly Bergkessel (Fairport, NY), Kerri Charpentier (Leominster, MA), Nora Claus (Willington, CT), Lindsay Hansen (Clearwater, FL), Michelle Jackson (Milford, NH), Amber Johnston (Enfield, CT), Elizabeth Klink (Mt. Arlington, NJ), Lauren Kopajtic (Jarrettsville, MD), Katherine Larson (Sayville, NY), Heather Law (Danielson, CT), Christine Martin (Rochelle Park, NJ), Jacqueline Martin (Rochelle Park, NJ), Anne McAndrew (Centerbrook, CT), Erin Moran (Cheshire, CT), Lindsey Nichols (Victor, NY), Deborah Repass (Enfield, CT), Michal Rinkevich (Tel Aviv, Israel), Taylor Ruby (Jacksonville, FL), Sarah Thomas (McKinney, TX), Michela Vidi (Newburgh, NY).
