Three Divers Head To NCAA Zone Championship

March 11, 2011

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The University of Connecticut will send three performers to the NCAA Zone Diving Meet, which runs from Friday through Sunday at Navy. The meet is a qualifier for the NCAA national championships next week in Austin, Texas.

Sophomore Danielle Cecco (Hicksville, N.Y.) had a terrific meet at last year's Zone Championships with fourth and sixth place finishes on the three-meter and one-meter respectively. She is certainly one of the divers with real potential to move on to the nationals.

Junior Kelly McCauley (Cortland Manor, N.Y.) will be making her first appearance at the Zone meet and has improved steadily since her freshman year. She shows the skills to make the finals at this meet.

Sophomore Nicole Borriello (Montgomery, N.Y.) qualified for the meet in 2010, but was scratched due to an injury. Borriello has a very competitive list of dives and also looks promising to make the finals.
