STORRS, Conn. - Tyson Hurst, a 2005 graduate of the University of Oregon who most recently served as an assistant coach at Indiana for the past season, has been named an assistant men's and women's swimming coach at the University of Connecticut.
At Indiana, Hurst was involved in a number of areas in the program, such as efficiency in technique, developing daily workouts and implementing progressive power-training regimens.
Hurst also worked in Member Services at the Campus Recreational Sports Office at Indiana.
Hurst was a coach for the Cascade Aquatic Swim Club in Redmond, Ore., from 2007 to 2009 and was the swimming coach at Redmond High School from 2006 to 2009.
He graduated from Oregon State with a degree in music in 2005 and earned a master's in music education in 2006. While at Oregon State, he coached teams on the novice, age group and senior level.
