STORRS, Conn. (Nov. 1) -- University of Connecticut swimming and diving coach Bob Goldberg collected his 200th win, as his women's team rolled on to victory against Boston College, 178-122, in a dual meet on Nov. 1 at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium in Storrs, Conn.

Goldberg, a native of Watertown, Massachusetts, is in his 13th season as the Huskies' mentor. He has guided the men's program to an impressive 98-44-0 record and the women with a 102-35-1 record to-date.

On the festive night, sophomore Kate Larson (Sayville, N.Y.) also turned in a new pool record time of 1 minute, 5.38 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke. She would erase a record previously set in the 1995-96 season by a swimmer from Notre Dame. The time also qualified for the BIG EAST Conference Championship in February.

In the 200 butterfly competition, the Huskies finished one, two and three in the event. Freshman Lindsay Hansen (Clearwater, Fla.) led the way with a time of 2:07.50, while fellow freshman Liz Campbell (Jacksonville, Fla.) and senior Dagny Runyan (Fort Sheridan, Ill.) followed. All of their times marked qualifications for the conference meet.

Freshman Katie Jelus (Beavercreek, Ohio) won her first collegiate race, clocking in a time of 10:32.97 in the 1,000 freestyle. She would swim head-to-head with Caitlin Healey of BC in the final lap for the victory.

"We swam well tonight considering some of the swimmers competed in off-events," Goldberg said. "It's amazing, but we still have enough energy left for Saturday and we are swimming up a storm. Villanova may be a perennial BIG EAST powerhouse, but we can swim with them."

The Connecticut men (3-1) and women (5-0) will next host the Wildcats on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m.
