PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior diver Amanda Craig was honored Tuesday as the American Athletic Conference Female Diver of the Week. This is the second time a Husky diver has been recognized this season (Monica Marcello).
Amanda Craig became the fourth Huskies diver this season to punch her ticket to the NCAA Zones with a 281.75 score in the 3-meter competition. Craig joins Michelle Kapulski, Alli Butera and Monica Marcello as qualifiers for Zones. The score for Craig was also a career-best for the senior.
"Amanda Craig has improved each and every year she has been with us," said head diving coach John Bransfield. "Until Saturday, however, she had not won an event. She has been overshadowed by some of our prolific scorers, but she makes moves here and there which gets the team’s attention, as well as mine. When she busts one out with the right lines and techniques, she can do some special things. Well, she put it together this weekend on 3 Meter and the glory was hers to enjoy. I was very proud of Amanda, and look to see continued development from her with time."
The Huskies attempt to take their positive results into one of the biggest meets of the year, the Princeton Invite. The event will be held on Fri. Nov. 11 and Sat. Nov 12.
