STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men’s and women’s swimming and diving team return to action on Friday, Nov. 10 for Military Appreciation Night at 5 p.m. against Army West Point at the Wolff-Zackin Natatorium. Stars and stripes T-shirts will be given out on a first come, first serve basis for fans in attendance.
The Huskies look to build off their success from last weekend after recording dual meet victories at Southern Connecticut State University.
Sophomore Will Kearsey’s 49.20 in the 100 Back set a pool record and continued a solid stretch to open the year for the Wheathampstead, England native.
Junior Mark Hunter and senior Kyle Kimura are coming of strong performances, in which both swimmers seized three individual wins including the 200-yard medley relay. Hunter won the 100 and 200 Breast while Kimura captured victories in 200 Butterfly and 100 Free.
Junior Julie Hu led the team in the breaststroke events with a pair of victories in the 100 and 200-yard races. Freshman Georgia Apostolu displayed positive results in backstroke with multiple victories in the 100 and 200-yard events on opening weekend (Oct. 20 & 21).
On the boards, freshman Erin Clifford captured first place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions against SCSU. Junior Dan Kinney, sophomore Kyle Kennedy and freshman Torrington Wagner look to build on early season success on the men’s side.
