Women's Tennis Falls 7-0 to Marquette

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. - In its second BIG EAST match of the season, the University of Connecticut women's tennis lost 7-0 at Marquette on Sunday afternoon. Allison Campitiello (Staten Island, N.Y.) won the first of a three-set battle at No. 2 singles before ultimately falling (3-6, 6-4, 10-7) to her Golden Eagle opponent.

Campitiello paired with Kelley LoRusso (Shoreham, N.Y.) at No. 1 doubles falling in the second completed match of the day as Marquette secured the doubles point. Campitiello and LoRusso dropped their doubles match after Emily Searle (Lyme, Conn.) and Jenny Marotta (Nesconset, N.Y.) lost an 8-1 decision in third.

The Golden Eagles won all the doubles matches after BreAnn Cheung (Tucson, Ariz.) and Katie Mortiz (York, Pa.) fell by an 8-5 margin at No. 2 doubles

Marotta was the first one to fall in singles play, losing 6-1, 6-0 in sixth singles. Moritz and Searle lost their matches at No. 4 and 5 singles, respectively. Cheung was held without a win in the first set of her two-set (6-0, 6-2) loss in third singles. LoRusso lost the battle at No. 1 singles in two, 6-1, 6-3.

Women's tennis continues the season with four matches in Florida from March 9-12. The Huskies take on four different teams throughout the four days.
