PUERTO RICO - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team blanked Minnesota State Mankato 7-0 on Wednesday afternoon in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
UConn took all the matches on the afternoon against a Minnesota State program which came into the day with a 7-3 record.
Jennifer Learmonth led the Huskies, winning in No. 1 singles and doubles. Learmonth defeated Sarah Madigan 6-1, 6-0 and joined teammate Emily Herb in No. 1 doubles with a dominating 8-1 victory over Madigan and Kathryn Gavin.
Alexa Gregory won the No. 2 singles with a pair of 6-0 set wins over Gavin before she and Abby McKeon combined for an 8-1 win over MSU's Heather Jensen and Tegan Bakke. Lauren Wilmarth edged Jensen 7-5, 6-2, while Lucy Nutting defeated Brandi Dohmen 6-1, 6-0 in No. 4 singles.
Wilmarth and senior Katie Moritz also won their doubles' match with an 8-2 win over Danni Collins and Brandi Dohmen. Marie Gargiulo downed Tegan Bakke 6-1, 6-4, while UConn's Julia Allen defeated Jenny Gustafson in a pair of 6-0 sets in No. 6 singles.
