Huskies Rout Providence In BIG EAST Play, 6-1

Maxene Weinberg won a thriller at No. 2 singles.

STORRS, Conn. - - The UConn women's tennis program won its first BIG EAST Conference match of the season today with a 6-1 victory over Providence College in Storrs. UConn has now won five straight matches with today's victory.

Connecticut took the doubles point and went 5-1 in singles to take the convincing victory.

"The girls played great in their first home match of the season and gained a lot of confidence and now we are getting ready for Seton Hall on Friday," said women's assistant coach Monica Purice.
