Women's Tennis Falls to Cincinnati 6-1

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Cincinnati in BIG EAST Conference action on Tuesday afternoon.

Jennifer Learmonth was at the top of her game and tallied the lone UConn point with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Ksenia Slynko in No. 1 singles.

Cincinnati came out early and set the tone of the match, jumping out to early leads in all three doubles' matches. Despite winning just one singles' match, the Huskies made the afternoon a competitive one, battling it out to some close finals.

Lauren Wilmarth fell to Caitlin O'Gara 6-2, 7-6, while Abby McKeon dropped a 7-6, 6-1 match to Lindsey Lonergan. Freshman Lucy Nutting also competed in a close match with Safiyya Ismail, losing to the Bearcat 6-4, 7-6.

Jasmine Lee, the BIG EAST Player of the Week on March 13, defeated Emily Herb 6-3, 6-1, while Alexa Gregory dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Ashleigh Witte.

UConn will return to action on Saturday as the Huskies host Georgetown in Storrs at 11:00 a.m.
