EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis team notched their 10th win of the season and picked-up their third-straight victory with a 7-0 win over in-state rival Fairfield Thurday afternoon from the East Hartford Tennis Club. The Huskies improved to 10-7 on the season.

"This was a very good win for the team today," stated head coach Glenn Marshall. "We had to earn each victory on every court today. Our doubles teams got off to a quick start to set the tone. The momentum carried us into the singles matches where we got off to a strong start in the first sets on all courts and our players were able to finish with authority. This win will help us prepar to play indoors this Saturday at Temple."

Junior Srna Stosljevic (Novi Sad, Serbia) notched her team-leading 20th singles victory on the season, winning her match at #1 with Allison Radde, 6-2 and 6-2. Stosljevic is now 20-7 on the season and enters this weekend a winner of four-straight matches in the top-spot.

Sophomores Emma Alderman (Hingham, Mass.) and Shea Flanagan (Overland Park, Kan.) and freshman Summer Walker (Conyers, Ga.) all earned their 18th singles victories of the season on Thursday. Alderman grabbed a 6-2 and 6-1 win at #2 over Sarah Stuhlmann and is now 18-11 on the season with her third-straight singles victory. Walker won at #4 beating Nicole Aragones, 6-0 and 6-1, running her season record to 18-10. Flanagan improved to 18-8 on the season with a 6-2 and 6-0 win at #6 over Meghan Zimmer.

Freshmen Zaina Zaki (West Chester, Pa.) and Yelyzaveta Pletnyeva (Vinnitsa, Ukraine) finished off the singles sweep with straight-set wins. Zaki won at #4 over Erika Nannery, 6-1 and 7-6 (1) for her 13th victory this season while Pletnyeva won at #3, 6-0 and 6-1, over Nicole Aragones, winning her ninth match of the spring season.

In doubles, Walker picked up her team-best 14th doubles victory, improving to 9-3 with classmate Pletnyeva thanks to a 6-1 win at #3 over Helen Abbot and Nannery.

Stosljevic and senior Maxene Weinberg (Marietta, Ga.) raised their doubles record to 10-5 on the year with a 6-2 win at #1 over Radde and Karen McKeough. Alderman and Zaki made it a clean sweep winning at #2, 6-2, over Aragones and Stuhlmann.

The Huskies will take on American Athletic Conference foe Temple on Saturday afternoon from the Upper Dublin Sports Center in Ambler, Pa. Match time is set for 5:30 pm. UConn will then head to Villanova on Sunday for a 1:00 pm match.
