STORRS, Conn. - It was a difficult day for the University of Connecticut women's tennis team on Saturday, losing 7-0 to Cincinnati at the University of Connecticut Tennis Courts. BreAnn Cheung (Tucson, Ariz.) and Alison Campitiello (Staten Island, N.Y.) came the closes to victory with an 8-7 loss at No. 2 doubles.
The Huskies fall to 6-7 this spring and an overall mark of 6-8 this season.
"The whole Cincinnati team played tougher than we did today," head coach Glenn Marshall said. "We just did not match their intensity from the start, and that carried over throughout the entire match. I hope we learned something from this loss today, and work a little harder in our matches next week."
Connecticut defeated its first conference opponent of the weekend on Friday with a 5-2 victory over Seton Hall, but was unable to carry over the momentum to Saturday's match against the Bearcats.
The Huskies continue to host their opposition with a dual match against Quinnipiac on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
