TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team suffered a shutout loss against Cincinnati in the consolation bracket of the BIG EAST Championships on Thursday. Three UConn players had forced a decisive third set before play was halted at the USF Tennis Courts.
Cincinnati jumped out to an early lead with a pair of 8-2 victories in doubles at second and third.
Kelley LoRusso (Shoreham, N.Y.), BreAnn Cheung (Tucson, Ariz.) and Emily Herb (Cherry Hill, N.J.) each battled back from first set losses to forced a third. Play was stopped after the match was decided with the Bearcats getting wins at second, fifth and sixth singles.
Alison Campitiello (Staten Island, N.Y.) fell in her completed three-set match at No. 2 singles.
Connecticut concludes the season with an overall 7-12 record.
