    WEST POINT, N.Y. - The second day of the Eastern Invitational at Army ended early for many members of the University of Connecticut Tennis team with play set to continue through Sunday.

    In the second doubles bracket, freshmen Julia Allen (Raleigh, N.C.) and Sarah Griffin (Cheshire, Conn.) saw their bid for the second doubles title end after a 9-8 (7) loss in the quarterfinal round to Fairifeld's Michaela Cerrone and Meghan Sullivan.

    Freshman Abby McKeon (Westford, Mass.) and junior Katie Moritz (York, Pa.) fell in the final match of the first doubles consolation bracket to University of Rhode Island's Amanda Barletta and Brooke Hoover. Prior to dropping the 9-7 decision in the final, McKeon and Moritz reached the finals with a 9-7 win over Blake Harries and Hilary Cunningham (Middlebury).

    Junior Emily Herb (Cherry Hill, N.J.) fell in the semifinals of the second consolation bracket, suffering a 9-8 (5) loss to Paola Rodolfi of Stony Brook.

    After advancing to the semis in the fourth consolation bracket, freshman Lauren Wilmarth (Andover, Mass.) lost an 8-1 match to her Fairleigh Dickinson opponent.

    Play will conclude on Sunday at the Lictenberg Tennis Center.
