LEWISBURG, Pa. - Several Huskies will compete in on Saturday as the UConn women's tennis team continues play at the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa.
In singles' competition six of the eight Huskies competing in A, B and C singles will continue in the brackets on Saturday. The Huskies are led by Jen Learmonth in singles A play as she blanked Boston University's Lauren Rottkamp 6-0 before downing her 6-1 to win the match. Emily Herb earned a bye in A singles and will face BU's Demi Iepuras who defeated Fairleigh Dickinson's Manuela Leme 6-4, 6-1.
In B singles, Alexa Gregory defeated Alison Wingo from George Mason 6-4, 6-1, while Abby McKeon advanced on a 6-2, 5-7, (10-6) win over Colgate's Meredith Rock. Lauren Wilmarth, who earned a bye in B singles, will face FDU's Egzona Morina on Saturday. Lucy Nutting advanced in C singles after edging Boston University's Courtney Casey 6-1, 7-5.
In doubles competition, UConn has been led this weekend by Wilmarth and Nutting who defeated BU's Vidrascu and Tuzhikova 8-4 to get into the quarterfinals. They will face a duo from FDU that shutout Colgate's Silvers and Rohill 8-0.
