Nutting Leads UConn at Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Lucy Nutting led the UConn women's tennis team with wins in her singles' as well as doubles' matches at the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa.

Nutting defeated Yasmin Fotovat 6-4, 6-3 to win the finals of the C singles on Sunday. She defeated three other opponents to reach that position on the final day of competition, including Kate Desiatnikova of George Mason, who she downed in semifinal action on Saturday afternoon.

In doubles competition, UConn was led all weekend by Lauren Wilmarth and Nutting who won the B doubles' flight with an 8-3 win over George Mason's Blackwell and Wingo.

In B singles, Alexa Gregory defeated Alison Wingo from George Mason 6-4, 6-1 to reach the finals of the flight but fell to Irina Dementyeva 1-6, 7-6 and 10-7 in a close match to finish the weekend.

The UConn women's tennis team will host Massachusetts on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 2:30 p.m. in Storrs, Conn.
