STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's tennis team closed out the dual match portion of their fall schedule with a 7-0 win over Providence College Saturday afternoon at the East Hartford Tennis Club.  The Huskies finish 2-1 in dual matches this fall.

"I am very pleased with our effort today and it showed with a 7-0 victory over a good Providence team," stated head coach Glenn Marshall.  " We started strong on all three doubles courts and that got our energy up for the entire match.  We were trying to avenge a loss to them from spring 2013, and we came out focused and determined to accomplish that goal.  This was a great way to finish our fall season dual match campaign."

The UConn #1 doubles team of junior Srna Stosljevic (Novi Saad, Serbia) and senior Maxene Weinberg (Marietta, Ga.) started the Huskies doubles run with an 8-0 win over Alana Prinos and Katie Marvin.  At #2, sophomore Emma Alderman (Hingham, Mass.) and freshman Zaina Zari (West Chester, Pa.) beat Jenn DeLuca and Amanda Pitocco, 8-3.  The Huskies made it a clean sweep winning at #3 as sophomre Shea Flanagan (Overland Park, Kans.) and freshman Summer Walker (Conyers, Ga.) topped Olivia Hogan and Grace Biciunas, 8-3.

The Huskies didn't drop a set in singles play as Stosljevic led the way at #1, beating Prinos 7-5 and 6-2.  Alderman bested DeLuca 6-3 and 6-0 at #2 and Weinberg won at #3 over Hogan, 6-3 and 6-1.

The two UConn rookies won at #4 and #5 singles.  Zaki beat Emma Burgess at #4, 6-0 and 6-4 while Walker won at #5, 6-1 and 7-6 (5) over Pitocco.  Flanagan closed out the singles sweep with a 6-2 and 6-0 win over Marven at #6.
