PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - UConn senior Yelyzaveta Pletnyeva (Vinnitsa, Ukraine) saw her run at the ITA Northeast Regional come to an end on Saturday afternoon with a loss in the round of 16 at the annual championship tournament.
Pletnyeva came up short of advancing to the quarterfinals after dropping a three-set battle to Ruth Crawford from UMass. Pletnyeva won the opening set, 6-4 but Crawford responded and rattled off a 6-2 and 6-4 win to end the senior's tournament.
As a team, the Huskies finished the tournament with eight singles wins and a doubles victory and also put an end to their fall season. UConn enjoyed an impressive fall campaign, posting a 66-32 singles record as a team, a .673 winning percentage.
Pletnyeva finished her fall with a 12-4 singles record, including a 10-4 mark in tournaments. She went 7-3 in her last 10 matches.
