NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Alison Campitiello (Staten Island, N.Y.) was the lone member of the University of Connecticut women's tennis team to advance in the ITA Regional Championships at Yale on Saturday.
Campitiello defeated Carling Donovan (Columbia) in the opening round of singles play in straight sets. Campitiello is set to face Brown's Casey Herzberg on Sunday at 10:30 a.m.
Freshman Lauren Wilmarth (Andover, Mass.) lost a 6-2, 7-6 (4) match to Mollie Anderson from Penn in the opening round.
Wilmarth paired with junior Emily Herb (Cherry Hill, N.J.) in doubles. The Connecticut duo fell short, losing an 8-3 decision to Syracuse's Emily Harman and Christina Tan.
