Huskies Continue to Volunteer in Community

April 27, 2011

STORRS, Conn. - The University of Connecticut women's tennis team has been busy on and off the court this spring as the Huskies have volunteered with organizations and afterschool programs throughout the area.

The Huskies were involved in `Swim with Mike' this year, which is a water volleyball tournament that raises money for a scholarship fund for physically-challenged athletes.

The UConn women's tennis team also volunteered at an afterschool program at Clarke Elementary School in Hartford on March 22.

The work of the student-athletes on and off the court, whether it be in the classroom or community is a great attribute of the women's tennis program.

The Huskies begin 2011 BIG EAST Championship play on Thursday and as the No. 12 seed will take on No. 5 Marquette at noon in South Bend, Ind.
