STORRS, Conn. - Last week, the UConn men's and women's tennis teams spent the day at the Polaris Clinical Day School in East Hartford. The Polaris Center's Clinical Day School serves adolescents in grades 6-12, in addition to high school students in need of a fifth year placement.
The Clinical Day School offers a solid foundation for the learning and support that teenagers with significant social, emotional, mental health and/or behavioral challenges deserve. This was an experience for both groups. The Huskies participated in a number of activities to get to know the students of Polaris. They found out where everyone came from, where they would like to go, and what everyone's favorite food was.
The main goal is to expose the students at Polaris to college and what can come from furthering your education. Next semester, some students from the Polaris School will come up and tour the campus, eat in the dining halls and play some tennis with the teams.
