Huskies Finish Fourth At the ECAC Championships

McNiff takes first in the 3,000m at ECAC's.

BOSTON, Mass.- The Huskies finished the ECAC Championship in fourth place out of the twenty participating squads on Sunday afternoon. Connecticut posted two first place spots on the podium with Natasha McLaren automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships in the high jump and junior Shauna McNiff placing first in the 3,000 meter run.

McNiff put forward a time of 9:41.28 for her gold medal at the ECAC's, while teammate Courtney Dinnan finished the 3,000 meters in  10:01.18.

Also reaching the podium for the Huskies was junior Ana Groff who captured third place in the 500 meter finals with a time of 1:13.11 beating her time last year which won her the title.

UConn's 4x400 relay team finished fifth overall with a time of 3:45.12. The team was compiled of sophomore Tifany Daley, freshman Brianna Allen, Groff and sophomore Shavon Briscoe.

The Huskies will send Heather Wilson (Homer, N.Y.), McLaren and their DMR team of Wilson, Celina Emerson, Brigitte Mania and Lindsay Crevoiserat to the NCAA Championships in Boise, Idaho on Friday and Saturday.
