FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.- The UConn women’s track and field team had five Huskies compete in the opening day of the NCAA Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Complex as Victoria Flowers took part in Friday’s weight throw, while Brigitte Mania, Celina Emerson, Ana Groff and Lindsay Crevoiserat raced in the Distance Medley Relay.
Flowers, a four-time All-American, competed in her fourth indoor NCAA Championships on Friday where she finished tenth in the weight throw with a hurl of 20.13 meters (66-00.50). Flowers, 2013 Northeast Regional Field Athlete of the Year, capped off a stellar career at UConn as she was the weight throw champion at the BIG EAST, New England and ECAC Championships, while adding two shot put crowns at the New England and ECAC Championships.
Connecticut’s veteran DMR team, one of four BIG EAST DMR squads competing, owned a combination of five All-America titles heading into Friday's competition. The DMR team finished 12th on Friday evening in a time of 11:25.09.
Crevoiserat will conclude the NCAA Championships on Saturday when she races in the 3,000 meter run. The race is slated to begin at 8:40 p.m.
