MIAMI, Fla. - The University of Connecticut women's track and field team took first place at the Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami on Friday and Saturday.
Tynisha McMillian led the Huskies with a first place finish in the shot put as UConn tied for first place with Marshall with 28 points. McMillian threw for a mark of 14.52 meters (47'7¾"), while coming in second in the discus and fifth in the hammer throw. In the discus, McMillian threw for 44.98 meters (147'7").
In the javelin, the Huskies took the top-three spots as Jennifer Aldieri finished on top with a mark of 41.42 meters (135'11"). Freshman Emma Crowcroft placed second with a mark of 40.59 meters (133'2"), while sophomore Danika Ham took third at 39.51 meters (129'7"), respectively.
UConn's 4x400 meter relay team came in second place at 3:47.07, while Mandela Graves-Fulgham took second in the 400 meters (54.78). In the long jump, Whitney Holder also took second (5.73 meters - 18'9 ¾"), while Leah Andrianos also took second in the 1,500 meter run with a finishing time of 4:37.75.
