STORRS, Conn.- The University of Connecticut track and field team concluded the Raleigh Relays on Saturday with three first place titles. The Huskies also hosted the UConn Spring Invite in Storrs, Conn. where they finished with two top-five seats.
All-American Brigitte Mania continued to be a force for the Huskies as she added another first place finish to her career taking home the crown in the 800m run in a time of 2:04.86, while senior Heather Wilson finished third in 2:05.01. Additionally, Ana Groff ran the 800 in 2:11.37, Lindsay Crevoiserat in 2:12.00 and Meghan Cunningham in 2:15.74.
Connecticut was fifth in the 4x200 meter relay posting a time of 1:39.38. The squad was comprised of Ana Groff, Celina Emerson, Shavon Briscoe and Danielle Lyte. The 4x400 team (Emerson, Chantal Scott, Smith and Brianna Allen) came in seventh out of 21 with a time of 3:45.77.
Sophomore Madalayne Smith took home fourth place in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.89.
Meanwhile, back on their home turf the Huskies excelled on the field with Danika Ham finishing third in javelin (38.87m). On the track, Shelby Donahue concluded the 1,500m race in fifth place (4:42.18).
The Huskies will return to action on Friday, April 6 at the Stanford Invitational and will also be hosting a home meet on Saturday, April 7 in Storrs.
