The UConn women's track and field team hosted its lone home meet of the season today and excelled at the UConn All-Region Invitational. The Huskies also celebrated senior day. UConn honored seniors Caitlin Cannon, Brittany Heninger, Coleen Hepburn, Christine Meagher, Olga Ponamorenko, Samantha Willis, Leah Andrianos, Tynisha McMillian and Trisha-Ann Hawthorne.

Hawthorne was sensational today, winning the 100m, 200m and 4x100m. Hawthorne ran 11.31 in the 100m, 23.59 in the 200 and 47.14 in the 4x100m relay. She was joined in the relay by sophomore Kristen Brown and freshmen Celina Emerson and Madalayne Smith.

Sophomore Brittany Power put forth a solid performance in the jumps today, recording personal bests in the long jump at 5.75m (18' 10.5") and the triple jump at 11.87m (38' 11.5"). Classmate Whitney Holder won the long jump with an incredible leap of 6.26m (20' 6.5"). That mark won by nearly a foot.

The success in the jumps continued with freshman Ilva Bikanova clearing 1.75m (5' 8.75") in the high jump to take first overall. Ponamorenko took third in the event at 1.65m (5' 5").

UConn's dominance in the field events continued into the javelin where sophomore Emma Crowcroft was the top collegiate finisher with a best throw of 43.77m (143' 7"). Junior Danika Ham placed fourth overall at 39.24m (129' 9") with senior Michelle Bashaw right behind at 37.89m (124' 4").

Freshman Lauren Sara utilized an exceptional late-race kick to sprint into first in the final two laps of the 3,000m. She crossed the line at 9:35.58. Senior Meghan Cunningham took first in the 3,000m steeplechase with a personal best time of 10:29.42. Freshman Annabel Clarke placed second at 11:07.37.

Andrianos placed first in the 800m at 2:09.28 and led the 4x400m relay team to a second-place finish at 3:44.12. She was joined by sophomore Brigitte Mania, Cunningham, and junior Heather Wilson.

Mania set a new program record in the 1,500 today, running 4:26.12.

Redshirt senior Tynisha McMillian won the shot put and placed second in the discus today. In the shot put, she had a top mark of 14.50m (47' 7"). In the discus, her throw of 46.67m (153' 1") was just .14m behind the leader.

UConn will split the squad next week and go to the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif. and the UTech Invitational in Kingston, Jamaica on Saturday, April 16.
