PHILADELPHIA – The women’s track and field team competed in the 123rd Annual Penn Relays Thursday, April 26 to Saturday, April 28 at Franklin Field at the University of Pennsylvania. For full results CLICK HERE.
Emily Durgin was one of the highlights for the Huskies placing first overall in the 10,000 meter, racing the event in 33:49.30 on Thursday night. Durgin dominated the race, nearly finishing 40 second in front of the runner-up competitor.
The 4x800-relay team set a school record on Thursday afternoon finishing the race in 8:32.98. The team consisted on Alexis Panisse, Katie Foley, Sydnee Over and Susan Aneno. Aneno was the quickest of the Husky four, recording a 2:04.62 leg of the race. The fourth best time among all the competitors.
The Huskies sprint medley team won the ECAC section and placed fifth overall in the event with a time of 3:50.27 on Friday afternoon. The team consisted of Elise Anderson, Taylor Anderson, Kat Surin and Aneno.
“We had a successful Penn Relays showing with Emily emerging at the overall 10 K champion,” said head coach J.J. Clark. “We had several personal bests and our 4x800 relay capture a school record. We have one more meet tomorrow to fine tune for conference meet. I like how we are progressing.”
The Huskies continue this weekend at the Brown Invitation Sunday, April 30. Following this weekend the Huskies will prepare for The American Championships beginning on May 12.
