Flowers Takes Second Place In Hammer At ECAC Championships

Emerson will compete in the 400m finals on Sunday.

PRINCETON, N.J.- The women’s track squad concluded the first two days of the 2012 ECAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday night at Princeton’s William Weaver Track & Field Stadium. The Huskies will enter Sunday with 13 points after sophomore Allison Lasnicki earned five points and senior Victoria Flowers gained eight points for the Huskies with their top-five performances in their respective events.  

On Friday evening sophomore Allison Lasnicki (Canastota, N.Y.) took fourth place in the 5,000m run after crossing the finish line in 16:33.43 to give the Huskies five points towards their team total.

Senior Heather Wilson (Homer, N.Y.) will compete in Sunday’s final for the 1,500m run after posting a qualifying mark on Saturday with a time of 4:30.58. Joining Wilson on Sunday will be sophomore Celina Emerson (Newark, Del.) who reached the finals of the 400m dash following a time of 54.16 in the prelims, while junior Ana Groff (Orlando, Fla.) will compete in Sunday’s 800m finals qualifying with a fifth place (2:08.46) in the preliminaries.

All-American Victoria Flowers (Providence, R.I.) notched eight points for the Huskies with her second place finish in the hammer throw with a heave of 60.91m. Meanwhile, senior Danika Ham completed the javelin in 11th place with a toss of 37.61m.

The 4x400m relay squad consisting of Tiffany Daley, Emerson, Brianna Allen and Groff qualified for the finals with a time of 3:42.28.

The Huskies will conclude the ECAC Championships on Sunday, May 13 with events starting at 10 a.m. with the last event beginning approximately at 3 p.m.
