Holder takes home fifth in long jump.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.-In the first day at the Penn State National Invite the Huskies were led by junior Whitney Holder (Middletown, Conn.) who took fifth place in the finals of the long jump with a leap of 5.77 meters. Holder was one of two Huskies to make it to an event final on Friday, while junior Danielle Lyte (Burlington, Ontario) reached the semifinal round.
In addition to Holder, sophomore Madalayne Smith (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) captured seventh place in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.45.
The final Husky competitor to make advance to the semifinal level was Lyte as she ran the 60 meter dash in 7.64 to take home a 12th place finish.
Meanwhile, at the University of Boston Terrier Invite, junior Jasmine Cribb (Naugatuck, Conn.) was the lone Husky to finish in the top-five as she took home third in the high jump with a leap of 1.65m.
The rest of the Huskies will compete tomorrow in day two of the Penn State National, while some will travel to Boston to compete.
