Jan. 29, 2013
STORRS, Conn. – Senior Victoria Flowers earned her third consecutive BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week award as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Flowers has captured six first place titles in the six events she has competed in to start her final campaign donning the Husky blue and white.
The Providence, R.I. native was awarded the accolade after taking first place in the weight throw (21.32m) and the shot put (15.87m). Her toss of 21.32m is currently fourth in the nation and second in the league.
“It's quite an accomplishment for Victoria to be named athlete of week and three weeks in a row is obviously impressive,” stated head coach Bill Morgan. “I would suggest, from her standpoint, that there is much to be done to accomplish her ultimate goals. She is striving to break through to that level. It will be fun to see the end result of her efforts.”
Flowers and the No. 25 Huskies are back in action this weekend when they return to the Armory in New York for the Armory Collegiate Invite.
