STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut women’s track and field team will travel to New York City to compete at the Armory Collegiate meet this weekend. Action gets underway on Friday, Feb. 7 and concludes on Saturday, Feb. 8. Field events begin the day tomorrow with the shot put at 9:30am. Check the schedule posted above for complete UConn scheduled times. Meet information can be found here. To stream live, follow this link to FloTracker.

The Huskies will use this meet as “a dress rehearsal,” assistant coach Amy Begley stated. With the inaugural American Athletic Conference Championship just three weeks away and hosted at the Armory, Friday’s meet affords the Huskies preparation for the first American championship meet.

The longer schedule, too, will help acclimate the squad for the league championship meet. “Armory Collegiate will have more athletes and longer days with a Friday/Saturday structure. If our team can perform well here, then the conference championship will seem much calmer and easier to manage,” said coach Begley.

Looking to continue her stellar performance from last week will be Celina Emerson. The senior All-American posted a season-best 54.01 time in the 400 meter dash last week at the Penn State National. Emerson also ran the first leg of the 4x400 meter dash team with Faith Dismuke, Tiffany Daley and Nyanka Joseph .The quartet grabbed third with a time of 3:41.27 last week.
