STORRS, Conn. –  The UConn women’s track and field jumped one spot in this week’s national ranking as the squad is now No. 23 as released on Tuesday by the USTFCCCA. The Huskies move up in the poll following a silver medal at the BIG EAST Championships this past weekend. Connecticut is also the top ranked team in the Northeast region.

“Coming off an outstanding runner-up finish at the BIG EAST Championships, we look to the rest of our championship segment – New England’s this week and the ECAC Championships the subsequent week,” stated head coach Bill Morgan.

“I feel our team performed at a significant level to allow for our highest indoor ranking of the season along with the top standing in the Northeast region,” Morgan finished.  “The challenges ahead are obvious and although the BIG EAST is always our focus the reality is we look to regroup for every meet.  With several top runners not competing until nationals, it will be up to the remainder of the team to step up and carry our team through these regional meets.”

The Huskies return to competition on Friday and Saturday at the New England Championships in Boston, Mass.
