STORRS, Conn. - University of Connecticut women’s track and field head coach Bill Morgan, who has been associated with the program for the past 33 years, has announced his resignation from the position to devote more time with family in advance of an anticipated retirement on July 1. UConn associate head coach Clive Terrelonge will serve as interim head coach during the Huskies’ 2014 outdoor season. A national search will commence at the end of the outdoor season.
Morgan was named head coach of the Husky program in 2003-04 and has been part of all 45 championships that the program has won. With national rankings in 2011 and 2012, team accomplishments are highlighted by top Northeast Region rankings, 10 ECAC championships and numerous NCAA All-Academic Team Awards.
His teams have earned multiple team titles, highlighted by the recent outdoor ECAC Championship three-peat from 2008 to 2010, and four-straight indoor ECAC titles from 2007-2011.
The Huskies earned Big East Championship titles in 1986, 1995, 2008 and 2009, and were conference championship runner-up a total of 10 times, five in indoor and five in outdoor competition.
As a 14-time Coach of the Year, Morgan's career included 36 All-Americans and over 200 conference champions while participating in 20 NCAA Division I National Championships.
