NCAA East Preliminary Results
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The UConn women’s track and field team completed its participation in the NCAA Division I East Preliminary on Saturday with a pair of strong performances by graduate student Emily Durgin and freshman Divine Oladipo.
Oladipo placed 18th in the shot put with a throw of 16.00 meters, giving her two top-20 finishes in the NCAA Preliminary Round. The Husky freshman earned 13th place in the discus, one short of qualifying for the NCAA Championships, on Friday.
Meanwhile, Durgin just missed out on a trip to Eugene, Ore. next weekend by finishing 14th in the 5k run, crossing the finish line in a time of 16:29.85. On Thursday, Durgin placed 17th in the 10k (34:24.00).
Sophomore Susan Aneno will be heading to Eugene in two weeks after finishing fourth in the 800m run (2:02.66), securing her first-ever trip to the NCAA Track and Field Championships.
The NCAA Outdoor Championship will be held from June 7-10, with track and field athletes from all over the country competing in their individual events.
