    Knight Takes 12th Place Finish at NCAA Finals

    DES MOINES, Iowa (June 14, 2008) - Carin Knight (New Rochelle, Conn.) took a 12th place finish in the high jump as she led the University of Connecticut women's track and field team at the 2008 NCAA Championships at Drake University.

    Knight recorded a jump of 1.77 meters (5-09.75) in the finals on Friday afternoon. She posted a jump of 1.77 meters (5-09.75) on Wednesday to qualify for the NCAA Championship finals for Friday.

    Knight's mark in the preliminaries put her in the top 16 finishers among the group of 27 student-athletes in the high jump preliminaries.

    Tamara Highsmith (East Haven, Conn.) finished 15th overall as she posted a mark of 12.93 (42-05.25) in the triple jump preliminaries for the Huskies.

    "This was the highest level of competition we faced all season," said head coach Bill Morgan. "We came out and performed against some very fierce opponents. We had a great season as a team and I am very proud of these young ladies."
