LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of Connecticut volleyball team fell in its season opener at Loyola Marymount on Friday night, 3-0, to kick off play at the LMU Invitational.  The Huskies fell by scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-16.

UConn looks to rebound on Saturday with matches against UC-Santa Barbara and Iona.

Sophomore outside hitter Devon Maugle (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) recorded a team-high seven kills.  For the Lions, Litara Keil and Amber Mirabello led the way with 11 apiece.

Senior setter Angela Roidt (McFarland, Wis.) dished out seven assists and sophomore Brianna Datti (Durham, N.H.) picked up a team-leading eight digs.

The Huskies totaled 10 blocks as a team, to LMU's eight.  Freshman Erika Thomas (Ocoee, Fla.) totaled five in her collegiate debut.
