SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Connecticut volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory over New Orleans in the opening match of the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational, hosted by Missouri State, on Friday afternoon. The win lifted the Huskies to 5-3 on the year, while the Privateers dropped to 3-3, ending a three-match win streak.
UConn took the first and third sets by scores of 25-11 and pulled out a 25-18 win in the second. Following a timeout by UNO in the first set, the Huskies went on a 14-3 run to earn the set; hitting .500 with 16 kills and three service aces along the way.
Senior outside hitter Mattison Quayle (Los Angeles, Calif.) led all players with 12 kills and hit a season-best .500 for the match. She also added 10 digs to pick up her second double-double of the season.
Sophomore Devon Maugle (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.) chipped in with nine kills and freshman Madeline Kuppe (Palo Alto, Calif.) added eight. For UNO, Laila Hansen led the way with 10 kills and five digs.
Senior libero Kelsey Maving (Tonowanda, N.Y.) led all players with 13 digs and freshman setter Marissa Prinzbach (Cincinnati, Ohio) paced UConn with 29 assists.

For the match, UConn registered a .420 kill percentage and held the Privateers to .066.
The Huskies take to the court again tonight at 8:30 pm as they take on the host Missouri State Bears.
